Today Peter Darvas is our guest at CVAA monthly meeting. You won't want to miss this one. Here is a picture and a bit of info from the website
http://artforthehomegallery.com
"An international artist who travels frequently throughout the year sailing and painting in regions as diverse as Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, and Polynesia, E. Peter Darvas has also kept a main studio and home in Tahoe for over 30 years where he is inspired and relaxed by the area's unfettered scenic beauty. An Impressionist painter, his art is bold and spontaneous with life, light, mood and color - much like his own vibrant and generous personality.
Born in Hungary in 1946 and raised in Texas since the age of ten, Darvas' early natural talent and the rich artistic heritage of the Southwest secured his destiny to become a world-renown painter despite the fact that before earning his degree in Fine Art, he had first majored in Physics on his way to become a rocket scientist. (During his senior year, Darvas achieved the highest statewide SAT score in Math.) Today, his inimitable oils, acrylics and watercolors adorn many homes and public buildings across California, the U.S. and the world bringing nature's free and compelling beauty into the lives of many.
THE LAKE TAHOE PORTFOLIO
Over the last five years, Darvas has been creating a special portfolio of scenes in and around the Lake Tahoe region. Offered in collector quality giclee reproductions, these Tahoe art pieces can be lovingly passed from generation to generation. His hand-enhanced A/Ps sell out fast so request your catalog as soon as possible. "
Thanks for coming Peter.

Well, if your in the painting mood how about a challenge?
The Artists Network current challenge........... go to the link below and look at the entries so far... then you paint your entry.
What does spring mean to you--besides flowers, that is. Flowers are fine, but artists are far too creative to "root" themselves to one subject, don't you think? Your artwork is to convey a sense of springtime or convey what spring means to you--without depicting flowers.
Your artwork may be any style from trompe l’oeil realism to somewhat abstract (objects must be identifiable).
All media are acceptable, including collage—just keep your work basically two-dimensional.
New work only please.

Now there is a win-win situation.... Dave Sheets is happy to accept; the CVAA is happy to give.... and Nancy is all smiles clasping on to that check. Congrats Nancy. There was a fine turnout at the WNC hanging from which this work of art was selected by the Town of Minden. Thank you everyone for your participation. And special thanks to those who did all the hanging and take down. You are probably still sweating. Oh.. so this is old news you saw in the Newsletter. That's ok. We're glad you noticed. these are the opening volleys of our new blog so we're just getting our feet wet. Add your positive comments, inspirations and thoughts.
Your board members had a great meeting on 9 Apr 09 planning some really good things for the Association. As you can see, Helen was beside herself... she just couldn't hold it back any longer.
One item discussed was the September show CVAA will be having of your personal interpretations of the Carson Valley fotos which will be selected at the meeting this week.... BE THERE...help us make the selection. This ought to be lots of fun.
